100 Ideas To Change The Future: Inside Josiah Pinheiro’s Global Youth Movement

"Young people are always told that they’re the future, but many are still waiting for someone to take their ideas seriously," says Josiah Pinheiro. The 17-year-old Grade 12 student from Greater Sudbury recognized this reality and decided to create a platform to prove that great ideas can come from anywhere. He launched Global100Ideas, an international initiative challenging young people around the world to pitch an original vision for the future in exactly 100 words.

The strict word limit encourages participants to think critically and deliver pure vision without the extra fluff. The concept resonated quickly. In its very first submission cycle, the initiative brought in 150 entries from young people in over 25 countries.

Rather than letting those submissions sit in a digital archive, Josiah transformed the top entries into an officially published book titled 100 Ideas for the Future. For every student featured in its pages, the publication provides credible proof of their vision that they can proudly show off on university applications, resumes, and LinkedIn profiles.

The project is already turning heads across the global education and tech sectors. HundrED, a Finland-based education nonprofit operating in over 100 countries, reviewed the initiative and praised it as a "wonderful catalogue of ideas." Josiah has also earned guidance from notable student leaders, including Sparsh Roy, an AI researcher at MIT, and Rhythm Bazari, founder of Minorities in STEM.

What is truly inspiring about this project is seeing how deeply young people care about the world they are going to inherit. The core message of the initiative is clear: youth are not just sitting back and watching the world go by. They are actively thinking about sustainability, innovation, and how to build a better reality for the generations that will follow them.

Seeing a young Black innovator from Northern Ontario create these global bridges is a powerful reminder that game-changing leadership does not only happen in major corporate hubs. With the first printed copies officially out in the world, the team is already preparing to launch the next submission cycle for their second edition.
