The Search Continues For Three Suspects After 12 People Were Injured In Scarborough

On the evening of Friday, March 7, 2025, a mass shooting occurred at the Piper Arms pub in Scarborough, Toronto, leaving at least 12 people injured. The incident took place around 10:39 p.m. at the establishment located near Progress Avenue and Corporate Drive.

According to Toronto police, three male suspects entered the pub and opened fire indiscriminately on patrons. One of the assailants was reported wearing a black balaclava, and the trio fled the scene in a silver car. The victims, ranging in age from their 20s to mid-50s, suffered injuries varying from gunshot wounds to those caused by flying glass. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, though some victims remain in critical condition.

Superintendent Paul MacIntyre of Toronto's organized crime enforcement branch described the scene as "eerie," with drinks and food left untouched amid the chaos. He emphasized the brazenness of the attack, stating, "It looks like we had a mass-casualty shooting inside a pub." The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are exploring all leads, including potential connections to recent tow truck-related shootings in the area.

In response to the incident, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed deep concern and assured the public that all necessary resources are being deployed to apprehend those responsible. She stated, "I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough. My thoughts are with the victims and their families."

The Piper Arms pub was reportedly hosting its opening night when the shooting occurred, adding to the shock and distress within the community. The investigation is ongoing, and Toronto police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in identifying and locating the suspects.

This incident adds to a troubling history of shootings in the Scarborough area. Notably, the Danzig Street shooting in 2012 resulted in two deaths and 23 injuries during a community barbecue.  Additionally, Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute has experienced multiple lockdowns over the years due to nearby shootings, highlighting ongoing concerns about gun violence in the community.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, hoping for swift justice and measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
