Brampton Family Mourning After Missing Teen Jay’siiah Webb-Long Found Dead In Saskatchewan
A Brampton family is grieving an unimaginable loss after 16-year-old Jay’siiah Webb-Long, who had been missing for more than a year, was found dead in Saskatchewan. Authorities say his death is now being investigated as a homicide.
Jay’siiah was first reported missing in March 2025 after leaving his home in Brampton. According to Saskatchewan RCMP, investigators later tracked his disappearance to Pelican Narrows, a remote northern Saskatchewan community located roughly 420 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon. Human remains discovered near the community on May 13 were later identified as the missing teen.
An autopsy was conducted on May 15, and police say the case is being treated as a homicide investigation. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
The news has devastated loved ones in Brampton and across the GTA, where community members had spent months sharing missing person posters and advocating for more awareness around missing Black youth. Jay’siiah’s case became connected to broader conversations about missing Black boys in Ontario, a growing concern that has sparked community meetings, documentaries, and calls for greater urgency from authorities and media outlets.
In a GoFundMe launched by the family, relatives described Jay’siiah as a teen “who had his whole life ahead of him” and someone who was deeply loved by everyone around him. The fundraiser was created to help bring him home to Ontario and support funeral expenses during what the family called an “unimaginable loss.”
The tragedy has reignited conversations online about the need for stronger protections, faster responses, and more visibility when Black youth go missing in Canada. Many community members have also expressed frustration over how long it can take for these cases to receive widespread attention.
As loved ones continue to search for answers, tributes for Jay’siiah have flooded social media, with friends, activists, and community organizations sharing messages of grief, support, and remembrance.
Anyone with information related to the case is being asked to contact Saskatchewan RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
